As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

Sunday Snapshots: The Playmate

Today Kristin and Brian and the kids were out of town, and Kati was at their house taking care of their dog and hanging out with Alaine (21 months) who was not going on the trip.

Here at home, we invited Ron's sister and brother-in-law over to watch (are you ready for this?) a youtube video of an actual hip replacement surgery.  Do we know how to have fun or what?  Tommy actually had this surgery in April, performed by this very same doctor in the video, and he was now curious to see the nuts and bolts of what had gone on in his hip.  So there we sat, the four of us, around the computer for an hour and a half, saying things like "wow" and "oh my" and "ooooooo."

Yes, it was quite a different Sunday.  Usually Bekah has five playmates and fun and games and kid chatter.

Today...hip surgery.

What's a girl to do?

Well, she finished reading Five Little Peppers and How They Grew.  And she played with the only playmate in the house.  (Who was happy to oblige, I might add.)

Hide and Seek

How did you find me?

Who was that silly cat?

I think I'll just wash my arm.

  1. Tim had hip replacement surgery 3 years ago! It has made a huge difference in his life!

We probably would have been right there watching with you too! :) We're kind of weird like that.

Bekah looks like she managed to have fun anyway!

  2. I bet Tommy was glad to see this after, ~smile~.. I once considered having a face lift when I got older, but after seeing the video of one, I decided I would let the Hollywood folks have theirs. ~smile~
I am always amazed at how medical science has improved and how this has made our life so much better, my MIL had this surgery and it was such a blessing for her

Please tell Bekah, she did a fantastic job with her photography.
    Enjoy your day,
    Hugs,

  3. Oh my! My sister just had the eyelid surgery because she was fast getting to the place where she couldn't see. She's a nurse and wanted to show me the surgery. I started off bravely enough, but couldn't take it. Hip replacement surgery? No way! (My darling needs this surgery and I don't know if he or I could watch one.) Yes, you folks certainly do know how to have some...ahem...fun.

I can tell a cat lover wrote this..."I'll just wash my arm." LOL!
