As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

{31 Days of Hospitality} Day 18 ~ YOUR Hospitality Tips

It's party day!

As promised, I have put out the welcome mat...

...and served up some yummy hors d'oeuvres.

~ cream cheese with green pepper jelly and crackers ~

Oh, you'd like the recipe?

Sure, I'll share!

Thanks to Tipnut for  free recipe template!  I used PicMonkey to add my own recipe.

Now it's YOUR turn to chat about hospitality!

Just add the link to your hospitality post below.
(Please link the URL of your post, not your blog, so that guests who come to the party later will be able to find the right topic.)
I'll be leaving the Linky party open through Sunday night.

I am inviting anyone who doesn't have a blog to leave their best hospitality tip in the comments
so PLEASE take a moment to read those too!

  1. Good morning, Cheryl. I feel so welcome. ☺ And thanks for the tip about creating a recipe card using a TipNut template and PicMonkey. Brilliant! I've been enjoying your series so much and I've been learning a lot.

  3. I came over to visit at Vee's suggestion and enjoyed your wonderful hostessing tips. I am co-hosting a group of college friends next weekend for an overnighter! Talk about pressure!! I have been planning and cleaning and preparing for 2 weeks and I have one more week to go. I want to be a gracious hostess to these friends so they will enjoy their stay. Your tips will come in handy. Blessings, Pamela

  4. Love your series on Hospitality. I used to have folks over pretty often but working full time now and having a "few years" on me, I don't have company over very often.
I miss that--maybe if I just served something simple (frozen pizza, burgers, etc.) and concentrated on my guests, I would do better. But I have enjoyed all the hints from you and those who have left comments. Blessings, Sharon D.

  5. Good morning, Cheryl. Thanks for putting out the welcome mat this morning. It's a fun party. I love pepper jelly, and your post has reminded me that I still want to make some before Christmas. Little jars of it make such great hostess gifts.

  6. Well, I love to surprise my guest with a little something to take home. I am always humbled when someone brings me a hostess gift. But giving something for them to take home is such a blessing on my part. I have given bags of homemade cookies, a little container of hand santizer, or even a special tea bag. There are many inexpensive ways to show your appreication of their visit.

  7. I came over here from Creekside Cottage, where the hospitality post inspired me to come out of my shell and invite people over more often! Looking forward to digging into your blog in a day or two when I'll have more time to enjoy it.

  8. Cheryl, I LOVE pepper jelly but have never made it. I'm going to file this recipe away until next time I have my jelly-making hat on. Thanks for all your hard work on this series. I'm still trying to absorb all your wisdom from last year's 31 Days of Home.

  9. Cheryl,
What a great idea! I enjoyed Vee's post with tips.
I would say if in the evening, have nice quiet lamplight. Much more inviting. I like to bring out different dishes and linens for different types of celebrations, cloth napkins, mix and match for a pretty table with what I have on hand.
