As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

{31 Days of Hospitality} Day 21 ~ Doing It For the King

Let's read the whole passage...

Then the King will say to those on His right hand,
‘Come, you blessed of My Father,
inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
for I was hungry and you gave Me food;
I was thirsty and you gave Me drink;
I was a stranger and you took Me in;
was naked and you clothed Me;
I was sick and you visited Me;
I was in prison and you came to Me.’

“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying,
‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?
When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clotheYou?
Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’

And the King will answer and say to them,
‘Assuredly, I say to you,
inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren,
you did it to Me.’

Psst...
Remember to visit tomorrow when Brenda of Coffee Tea Books and Me will be sharing some of her thoughts on hospitality!

  1. This is the ultimate reason to practice hospitality, isn't it? Yet, it can be so difficult because who knows who the "least" might be. You just know where my silly brain takes me. Looking forward to tomorrow's post!

  3. This post just gave me a moment of clarity... Doing it for the King is what changes, TRANSFORMS, entertainment into hospitality, and works into acts of faith. Good stuff, my friend! Good stuff!
