As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

What We Were Up To...

We packed a lot into last week when Ron was on vacation. He doesn't usually take time off during the summer, so this was our last push to get some things checked off of our list.

There were projects...

Ron finished this little garden bench.

We did some yard work
and planted annuals in containers for the front of the farmhouse...

and in the back.

We finished the umbrella stand.

Our whole crew painted the master bedroom.

In between projects, we took a little trip.

Bekah performed in her spring piano recital.
"Canon in D" by Johann Pachelbel

We tried some new recipes...

...and because the weather was nearly perfect, we enjoyed some al fresco dining. (Okay, some sipping too. Starbucks was having "Happy Hour" last week!)

We even took a little time out for playing!

Do you find that you need a rest after some vacations? :)

I'll be happy to supply you with more project details, but I thought this post was long enough!

  2. Look at Ron go! Had to show John and we are both very impressed with that jumping. Nice to see the Washington Monument looking so fine. I see all the photographers in the family are being kept busy. Like the colors in the newly painted room. The yard looks great with the plantings and the new bench. Hope that Ron is having a restful week back at work. What's the next big project?

  14. Y'all got a lot done! Yes, I find that we often need to rest up after vacation, especially if we've traveled. It looks like we won't get much of a rest from this vacation. Got home and hit the ground running! We, however, will not be jumping rope. And if this half of the we were to do so, there would be no picture taking! haha!
