As the name of my blog indicates, I spend a lot of time thinking about home. Of course, my Heavenly Home is the one that is eternal, so that’s where I need to lay up my treasures, and that’s the one I’m striving for. But in the meantime, I have been given this tiny piece of the here-and-now—this home on the edge of town, this family, this neighborhood—in which to serve Him. And, though this is in the earthly realm, I want the things that happen here to be investments in the Heavenly realm.

CeLeBRaTe!! {Day 12 ~ Celebrate Winter, Spring, and Summer}

Perhaps I don't celebrate all of the seasons with the enthusiasm I reserve for autumn. But each season has its own beauty, God has created each one, and He has promised that they will not cease as long as the earth remains...and that's reason enough to celebrate!

Ideas for celebrating winter...
  • Enjoy cozy candlelight.
  • Make soup. Try a new recipe.
  • Watch a video "project": a series, or movies with a related theme.  Some we have enjoyed are Bleak House, Anne of Green Gables, the Jane Austen movies, Cranford, Wives and Daughters, Ken Burns' documentaries.
  • Drink hot drinks. Set up a hot chocolate bar.
  • Put together a 1000-piece puzzle.
  • Begin a read aloud.

Ways to welcome spring...

Ideas for celebrating summer...

  2. Good suggestions all! My favorite seasons are the first month of autumn and the last month of spring...two months out of twelve! Gosh, put that way, it doesn't sound as if I am very grateful. Oh dear. Perhaps because I am not especially fond of the other ten months, I work at celebrating more than I might otherwise. What do you think? (I think autumn bonfires or fire pits are fun in October. A hayride under cozy wool blankets on an autumn afternoon is a blast! Summer picnics are pleasant, hot chocolate after winter sledding with warm cookies from the oven is perfect. I like to keep a crocheting project going in the fall and winter, too. There is just no help for muddy spring...probably my least favorite time of year.)

  3. We really celebrate during the Autumn and Christmas too!

    We do a campfire every Sunday night during Autumn, sometimes into the winter too, depending on how cold it is. We roast hot dogs, and s'mores. We light candles, use white lights. It is fun to add ambiance to our home during the dark and colder seasons of the year!

  4. What fabulous ideas, Cheryl, especially for winter, my least favorite season of all. December is not bad but I actually dread January and February and most of March! I need to focus more on the positive, easier said than done, but I will try. Looking forward to the giveaway! xo
